The Public Service Board of Machakos County wishes to recruit competent
and qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions as per the
Constitution of Kenya 2010 Chapter 11 Section 235 and the County
Government Act 2012 Sections 66 and 62.

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND EMERGENCY SERVICES
Reporting to the medical superintendent in charge , the specialist will
head the unit and discharge both clinical and administrative duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide treatment for wide variety of common problems
- Take primary responsibility for a kidney patient's care.
- Interpreting blood protein, and creatinine levels tests and
- others, confirming or rejecting kidney disease and determining its severity.
- Review all the patient's medications to minimize unnecessary risks, and identify potentially harmful interactions between otherwise-beneficial drugs.
- Order a course of dialysis.
- Where Kidney Transplants are to be performed on patients, he/she will be responsible for managing the patient's care before and after the surgery.
- Coordinate with physicians treating other conditions, such as high blood pressure, diabetes or anemia that contribute to, or result from kidney disease.
- Attends to emergency calls.
- Supervise other medical personnel (clinical officers, lab technicians, and nurses’ e.t.c.
- Play a central role in clinical governance.
Requirements for appointment:
- Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of surgery from a recognized university.
- Post graduate degree in relevant field.
- Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist board.
- Must be wailing to work odd hours and on weekends/holidays.
- He/she must be a team leader and dedicated in service.
