YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa
On July 28, 2014, United States President Barack Obama announced the creation of four Regional Leadership Centers in Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, and South Africa as part of his Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).
Beginning 2015, these Centers will improve the availability and quality of leadership training programs and professional development opportunities for young African leaders.
The YALI Regional Leadership Center (RLC) East Africa, located at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, will serve 14 countries in East and Central Africa.
The Center is overseen by Deloitte East Africa and is supported by a growing number of African and international public and private partners.
It is a public-private partnership, capitalizing on the energy and dynamism of the private sector, the knowledge of African and American institutions, and the programmatic and educational resources of the U.S. Government.
The Center will focus on engaging young East African leaders from a wide range of organizations and backgrounds and with a diversity of experiences.
We are seeking to recruit an Information Technology and Communications Manager for YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa. This position will report to the RLC’s Chief of Party.
Deloitte IT Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement ICT strategies in line with the YALI and RLC strategic objectives;
- Managing the day-to-day operations of ICT within RLC and YALI project offices. This will include providing ICT support in PC and server environments, IT infrastructure management, networking services, user(participants and staff) services, telecommunications services, business applications, internet and web services, audio visual services, IT inventory management, IT Service level management and other information communication technology functions;
- Developing, implementing and monitoring ICT policies and procedures;
- Carry out ICT procurements and vendor contracts in line with the laid down procurement procedures and USAID guidelines;
- Ensure compliance and adherence to statutory requirements concerning ICT management such as audit, risk management, copyright and freedom of information;
- Enforce security of information in all ICT Systems;
- Support the corporate disaster recovery system by ensuring that it’s fully operational at all times for business continuity;
- Establish monitoring processes which provide accurate, pertinent and timely information to manage investments in information and associated resources;
- Evaluate new information technologies for their potential application to business processes;
- Interface with other institutions, business partners and professional bodies on information management matters.
- Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance.
- Bachelor’s degree, required, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field;
- Possess at least one professional IT qualification in either CISM or CISA or CCNA/P or MCSE/A or ITIL;
- Minimum of 5 year’s successful experience in IT services and operations management and IT projects implementations;
- Experience in IT operations management within a learning environment will be an added advantage;
- At least 3 years of work in East Africa or sub-Saharan Africa in a busy IT lead role;
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of PC operating systems and core business applications, server operating systems, Internet services, development and management of a corporate website including its updates systems engineering and support, network and communications infrastructure design and support, management of audio visual environment for learning;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with strong analytical & diagnostic skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the RLC and with the Chief of Party, other constituents and the public in the delivery of IT services and solutions;
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor ICT policies and procedures, and in depth knowledge of laws and regulations that govern ICT;
- Demonstrated ability to oversee IT operations of large projects or organisations;
- Demonstrated knowledge of IT security concepts and requirements and IT risk management;
- Demonstrably planning and organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines;
- Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve institutional goals;
- High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information; and
- Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
This position is on a four (4) year fixed- term contract subject to satisfactory performance and continued funding from USAID.
