Finance Officer Jobs at The Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health

The Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an active academic unit seeking to improve maternal and newborn health globally.
LSTM Kenya operates as a subsidiary company based in Nairobi but with a national remit. Operational since January 2013, it coordinates delivery of research programmes in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health at various levels and other stakeholders within Kenya.
One of our key programmes is the Making it Happen Programme, supported by UK Aid.
The aim of the programme is to reduce maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity by increasing availability and improving the quality of Skilled Birth Attendance (SBA) and Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC).
The key interventions are EmONC trainings, Making It Happen with Data workshops, Quality Improvement workshops and Monitoring &Evaluation. We are now seeking to appoint to the following positions:

Finance Officer

Ref: 544Salary circa 2,000,000KES per annum Full Time, Fixed Term until 31st December 2018Based in Nairobi, but with travel within Kenya

Finance Job Purpose
  • This role will work under the supervision of the Senior Finance Officer to provide professional support to the day to day finance and accounting function for LSTM Kenya Office.
  • It is essential that you have a minimum of 3 years proven professional and progressively responsible experience in finance, administration, budget and business administration, within a complex multi-national or non-governmental organisation.
Qualifications for Finance Jobs in Kenya
  • You will possess a University degree in a business related degree preferably Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Proven experience of operating computerised accounting systems and internal control systems and procedure will be essential.
  • A professional accounting qualification: CPA (K), ACCA, ACA would be an advantage for this role. It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop internal and external working relationships as you will be communicating and with a variety of different people on finance related issues.
  • The role will require you to work to tight deadlines so excellent time management and organisational skills are essential as is a working knowledge of Quickbooks accounting software and Microsoft Applications.
