Our client is a heavy commercial vehicle transport Company with branches across East Africa; they specialize in heavy cargo movement. They seek to hire a Health, Safety and Environment Manager (HSE)
Summary
Responsible for regulatory compliance, development, implementation and monitoring of program, development of policies and procedures, completion of reports that are required for filing, training and auditing. Promote a safe and healthy work environment through continuous improvement of safety, health and environmental systems that result in the reduction of accidents, illnesses, lost time, and assured regulatory compliance.
HSE Manager Key responsibilities
- Review and develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure that all regulations and codes are maintained throughout the environment and at all levels of production, warehouse, and office level throughout the organization
- Obtain and maintain up-to-date knowledge in aspects of Safety and Environmental regulations and compliance reporting
- Responsible for proper care and maintenance of all facilities and equipment. Any and all areas used by employees, customers, vendors, must be free of hazards at all times. Also, all equipment such as fire extinguishers, hard hats, gloves, and ergonomic devices must be available and in good working condition.
- Conducts risk assessment and risk mitigation measures on-site and before commencement of projects.
- Undertake corrective and preventive measures to ensure a proper environment and health for the organization and its stakeholders.
- Come up with proposals for corrective or preventive measures, and investigate, analyze and review accidents or near misses within the organization and clients site
- Ensure regular emergency response is effective and that managers and employees are prepared at all times,
- Designs and conducts drills, both announced and unannounced.
- Coordinates HSE subordinate staff working your supervision and ensures that work safety permits are enforced.
- Ensure that all employees are properly informed about the working, environmental and safety policies of the organization.
- Prepares monthly reports and makes presentations regularly to upper management.
